Telr provides online and mobile multi-currencies Payment Gateway processing services to merchants in emerging markets and in the consumer’s language of choice, combined with financing facilities enabling SMEs to kick-start and fast grow their online business.

The Opportunity: Most current payment gateways (PG) present major problems for the merchants and their development teams: PG technology integration can often take months; transactions are rarely supported in local currencies and local languages; merchants and consumers have to transact in USD at an extra cost; settlements are cumbersome, slow, complex and expensive.

The Solution: Telr’s technology and business processes, developed by leading Singapore-based fintech incubator GHX, enable merchants to quickly and simply offer payments solutions from multiple funding sources (cards, bank direct debit, wallets, proprietary prepaid cards) in multiple languages and local currencies, worldwide, enabling higher revenues and greater consumer choice. Telr suite of services aims to maximize the merchant growth thanks to an easy access to the proceeds (either in local bank or on a dedicated, card-linked account) and other financial services, such as working capital loans, invoice factoring and supply chain finance.


 Here are the 3 positions available:

1. Sales Manager

  • Contribute to the growth of in the MENA as part of the companies internationalization strategy
  • Pro- actively identify and qualify relevant opportunities within UAE merchant market
  • Driven by customer acquisition (i.e. online merchant)
  • Responsible for contact negotiating and deal closing
  • Working with partners to optimize relationships and help them reach their goals
  • Identify market trends and report them into the organisation
  • Reporting directly to the Head of Sales


  • Sales experience in B2B, preferably in the online industry and E-commerce
  • Excellent knowledge in English, Arabic is a plus
  • Strong negotiator and excellent communicator
  • Good telephone skills
  • Self-starter attitude, able to work independently
  • Eager to contribute to company success, willing to exceed expectations
  • Understanding of the online market place and payment methods


 2. Head of Sales

  • Support Senior Management team in developing and communicating a sound sales strategy to maximise revenue and profitability, and to capitalize on new market opportunities.
  • Solicit new clients and potential new revenue sources through self generated leads, cold calling, networking through strategic partners, by subscribing to industry blogs, publications and social media.
  • Engage in direct sales business development activities to acquire new customers and partners (merchants) to expand the Company’s existing client base and revenue sources Develop the sales strategy for acquiring and train the sales team to be effective in soliciting merchants in this vertical
  • Scan the competitive market to understand and evaluate the service offerings of other companies and partners, as well as keep up to date with the rules and regulations affecting the online payment processing industry.
  • Identify key sales verticals and develop the appropriate strategy to develop revenue opportunities from direct merchants and channel partners
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the Company’s online payment solutions, technologies and services.
  • Work closely with Innovation team to position new products into the market, as well informing into the product roadmap,
  • Update the CRM system to track leads and identify solid business opportunities
  • Formal weekly updates to report progress, potential leads and overall sales pipeline.
  • Report to senior management on a monthly basis where you are at with respect to budgeted quotas as well as communicate pipeline sales for the next 2 quarters.
  • Liaise with different internal departments to channel feedback on customer and partner requirements, preferences and value-added features.
  • Represent at industry trade shows and events.
  • Recommend the best trade shows to attend while keeping budget in mind.
  • Measure the effectiveness of various sales strategies and tactics by determining the impact on the bottom line.
  • Participate in contract bids and responses to Requests for Proposals as required.

Education and Qualifications:

  • You possess a university degree in Commerce, Business Administration or in an equivalent field of study.
  • You bring 5 to 10 years of relevant sales and business development experience, specifically within the electronic payment processing industry in the CEMEA/APAC, as well as B2B experience.
  • You have a proven track record in generating new business and in exceeding your sales targets. You have spent a significant part of your career in a senior sales role and you understand the constant demands and changes associated with this position.
  • You have a proven track record in managing sales team (up to 10 people with diverse cultural background)
  • You have proven abilities to understand and execute the organization’s sales strategy in order to ensure short-term and long-term growth and profitability. Furthermore, you have a solid vision for growing sales targets and possess a clear understanding of the competitive landscape.
  • You have the ability to strategically select potential clients and focus on maintaining multiple sourcing alternatives to ensure a continuous pipeline of potential prospects for new business and revenue opportunities.
  • You have the patience and the ability to tactfully handle customer inquiries and negotiations.
  • You are a self-motivator who can work independently, and possess strong organizational, time management and communication skills.
  • You are responsible and a team player with excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills and you are comfortable presenting in front of small and large audiences.
  • You demonstrate excellent enthusiasm and leadership, and a strong work ethic necessary to succeed in a dynamic, fast-moving and results oriented environment.
  • You must be available for occasional travel to meet and network with clients in person, to represent the Company at various industry events and shows and to regroup for sales meetings
  • Excellent knowledge in English, Arabic is a plus


3. Head of Communication, Marketing  and PR

We are looking for an experienced strategic Communicator and innovator to join a new and highly dynamic Payments company. The Head of Comms will report to the CEO and sit on the Management team. In this hands-on role the Head of Comms will have responsibility for building, driving and implementing the Comms strategy across all pillars: PR, brand management, social media, market research and investors comms. He will provide comprehensive and insightful marketing support to the sales teams.

You will be experienced in the world of B2B, B2C and client–facing PR and marketing with the confidence and ability to challenge and influence the status quo. You will have experience of delivering to marketing objectives in a highly commercial way, enhancing a strong corporate brand, with strong analytical and excellent communication and relationship skills. You will be responsible for driving a strong content marketing strategy and an outstanding presenter with ability to present with credibility and charisma.

You will have an outstanding knowledge of the Social Media landscape and be instrumental in leading the on-going innovation of the products and services.

Your role will involve:

  • Creating and delivering a global Communication strategy
  • Developing the Global Marketing Strategy includes working with Product, Software development, Management team and numerous teams
  • Identifying and evaluating areas of strategic opportunities including markets to focus on, future channel development and evolving the customer experience of our products. These opportunities will not only directly relate to current portfolio but also identify tangent areas for growth and development.
  • Presenting at conferences around the globe

Candidates should have experience in the following areas:

  • Overall Communication strategy development
  • Agency and Supplier management; particularly advertising and design
  • Public relations / media engagement
  • Digital marketing and using social media in a B2B or B2C environment
  • Brand management
  • Event Management

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • A relevant professional qualification, e.g. Marketing Degree or Post-Graduate qualification, ideally with a recent Digital Marketing qualification – However, candidates with exceptional experience without these qualifications will be considered
  • 7+ years’ experience operating in B2B or B2C with a track record in all marketing disciplines
  • Demonstrable experience of cutting edge work within the Social Media/on line market place
  • A demonstrable record of working collaboratively with strong influencing skills
  • Excellent knowledge in English, Arabic is a plus
